Island Cruises – Island Junks Hong Kong

Pick-up is from Aberdeen Public Pier at 11.30am. We begin by making our way slowly through Aberdeen Harbour, viewing fascinating scenes that make up everyday life in this bustling, floating community. Leaving the harbour we head out across the East Lamma Channel for the short journey to Sok Kwu Wan on Lamma’s east coast, where we dock and enjoy a leisurely seafood lunch at a local restaurant. There is plenty of time for an exploratory stroll and then it is back on board and the junk sets off on the journey back to HK Island. Passing the south end of Ap Lei Chau, the cruise continues via Deepwater and Repulse Bays, home to many of Hong Kong’s tycoons and their opulent houses. Rounding the Chum Hom Kok headland we arrive at our destination, Stanley. Disembarking at 3pm, you have the opportunity to meander through its famous markets before making your way home. As well as a delicious lunch at Lamma, a full range of complimentary snacks and drinks is provided throughout. This tour operates daily and requires a minimum of ten adults on weekdays (higher numbers on weekends/public holidays).

For groups with less than ten adults we can offer a slightly amended version in order to make it more cost-effective. We provide these groups with exactly the same island cruise itinerary, the only difference being that they make their own lunch arrangements at the island restaurant. We therefore provide the junk plus two crew, fuel, ice and all drinks/snacks whilst on board. Please contact us for rates.

Leaving the harbour the cruise heads south, tracing the contours of Deepwater and Repulse Bays, home to many of Hong Kong’s tycoons and their opulent houses. Continuing further along the coastline to the south-east, we set out across Stanley Bay and, rounding Bluff Head, make for the magical Po Toi Islands some three miles to the south. With a population of only around 20 people during the week you will be amazed that you are still in Hong Kong. Enjoy a delicious seafood lunch with plenty of time for an exploratory stroll to the nearby Tin Hau Temple or natural rock formations. Then it’s back on board for the return cruise to Stanley. Disembarking at 3pm means there’s plenty of time to enjoy meandering through Stanley’s famous markets before making your way home. As well as lunch at Po Toi, a full range of complimentary snacks and drinks is provided throughout. This tour operates daily except for Tuesdays and requires a minimum of twelve adults on weekdays (higher numbers on weekends/public holidays).
